13 reasons why you need Squarespace for service-based businesses
We regularly get asked the question, “Why Squarespace?”
Which is a genuinely valid question! There are so many web hosts out there; Wix, Wordpress, Shopify, Showit, Squarespace, just to name a few.
It can be incredibly time-consuming to figure out which web-hosting platform is right for your business needs.
Enter Squarespace.
Squarespace is the perfect all-round platform for service-based businesses and here are our top 13 reasons why!
1. Built to work from the get-go
Many platforms require additional plug-ins or widgets so your website functions as it should. Some of those plug-ins are free and some will cost money.
The problem with some platforms is that when they update, the plug-ins you have connected or sometimes even your website template, will no longer be compatible with the new version of the platform. Requiring maintenance and trouble-shooting on your end to keep your website working.
Squarespace, on the other hand, do not require plug-ins and their websites work from the start.
When Squarespace updates their platform, it will not impact your website’s functionality or design – it’ll keep looking and working as it should!
2. Looking professional is as easy as 1, 2, 3
Look like a pro following some simple steps:
Select your plan
Choose an awesome template (for the DIYers)
Purchase or redirect your domain
Set up a professional Gmail
All of this is done directly through Squarespace, setting you up for success early on.
Opting to DIY? Add your own branding to your template under “Site Styles”. Then add your info and imagery, connect your integrations and hit publish.
You’ll be up and running in no time!

8. Blogging
Ah, the power of blogging! This is our favourite marketing strategy.
Blogging increases your website’s SEO (Google rankings) and builds your email list.
This is a long-term marketing plan but at the end of the day, you will always own your email list unlike social media.
Squarespace’s blog feature is super easy to set up and use.

10. Integrate third-party extensions
Make the most out of Squarespace with third-party extensions!
Yes, Squarespace is flipping amazing just with their in-built integrations, but why not take it that one step further?
Connect third-party extensions such as Flodesk, ConvertKit, Honeybook, Asana, Calendly, Mailchimp, OpenTable or link to Teachable…
Use an extension-tool like SquareKicker to get extra design abilities without having to code!
You get the idea, you can make life so much simpler with Squarespace!
11. Automations
Your website is much more than just sitting and looking pretty.
Your website can save you time and act like an assistant.
Save time on back-and-forth emails trying to arrange a consultation through a scheduling system like Acuity or Calendly
Automate dinner reservations by connecting OpenTable etc.
Set up your email subscribers & download incentives
We have saved sooo much time automating our consult bookings & Zoom meetings.
There are also options on creating automated workflows through CRM tools (Client Relationship Management) like Dubsado to automate emails, invoices, project management, forms etc.
12. Higher security
Squarespace covers everything from top to bottom, inside and out from servers to your website’s code making it far less likely for your website to be hacked.
Unlike some platforms, if, on the off-chance Squarespace was actually hacked (unlikely as that is), they will fix it.
There are things you can do to also help increase your website and account security like turning on SSL (Settings > Advanced > SSL), set up two-factor authentication and choose a strong password.
13. Coding isn’t necessary!
While Squarespace does have the ability to add CSS, JavaScript, HTML etc. for custom coding, we choose not to use code on our client’s websites for a number of reasons.
The main one being that it can break and cause complications on your website’s functionality and make it difficult for you to maintain your own website.
However, Squarespace has such a strong design game, that coding really isn’t needed, your website will look absolutely amazing!!!
